3 Ways to Organize your Day at Work

No matter what field you are in, there is always a wide variety of distractions that pull you away from what you need to get done. As your workday gets crazier and crazier, stress can tend to pile up and leave you feeling frustrated resulting in your being less productive. These three tips can help you make the most of your day without being overstressed:

Keep your calendar up to date: Whether it is on your phone, your laptop, or printed out one of the easiest ways to stay organized is to update your calendar. It takes you maybe 20 minutes to write in what you have to work on for the week and seconds to update if you need to add or delete anything. Visibly seeing what needs to be done at all times can help make sure you don’t get overwhelmed or overlook anything.

Identify distractions: Outside phone calls or personal emails don’t stop coming in just because you are at work. Mute your personal notifications when you are selling to ensure that you are focused on the task at hand. You can even schedule out specific times in your day whether it be during lunch or on breaks to take the time to answer those.

Identify stressors: Just as it is important to nullify distractions, it is also just as important to recognize what causes us to overreact and get overwhelmed. Whether it is getting negative feedback or fear of missing a deadline, figure out what these stressors are early on and talk about them with your boss or team to find a solution before it is too late.

Everyone gets overwhelmed, but by taking the time and initiative you can avoid being disorganized and be much more productive and comfortable at work.
